Need a new furnace Longmont? New federal efficiency standards will be in effect soon.
Is a new furnace in your future? If the answer is Yes, here is some news that may affect you. Beginning May 1, 2013 all northern US states, including Colorado, will have new federal energy efficiency standards to meet. This will mean that after May 1st, contractors will no longer be allowed to purchase or install furnaces with efficiencies below 90%.
What does this mean for you? It means that if you need a new furnace before May 1st, you should call me sooner rather than later so we can discuss your options while you still have them. The installation of a 90% furnace can entail complications that don’t exist for those with lesser efficiencies, so we can determine now what’s best for you. If you might need a furnace replacement…contact me here.
What if I have an 80% furnace? As long as your 80% efficient furnace is in good working order, no problem! You can keep this furnace as long as you want, no need to upgrade until you require a new system. But remember, to keep your 80%er running as long as possible, be sure to keep on top of those regular yearly tune-ups! Schedule a Quote or Service today.
Who sets these standards? Executives from the Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE), Alliance to Save Energy (Alliance), Natural resources Defense Council (NRDC), Northeast Energy Efficient Partnership (NEEP), Appliance Standards Awareness Project (ASAP), California Energy Commission (CEC).
